Welcome

Dear participant,

Welcome to the Occultation Workshop of the 2-nd Trans-Tasman Symposium on Occultations. The aim of the workshop is to help occultation observers new to audio and video recording to extract timing measurements from real occultation audio and video data using computer software. The workshop also touches some more advanced concepts in reducing data and using LiMovie in particular and would be also interesting to the more experienced video observers.

The manual itself is prepared assuming that the reader is not an adept with computers and it sometimes goes into more details of how to use the software. If you are a more advanced computer user please bare with us and help the other participants around you, that may need a hand. The manual can be also used as a self-guided practice reference as it contains complete and detailed instructions.

The occultation data on the DVD has been recorded and kindly provided, exclusively for this workshop by observers around the world from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Germany, Austria and United States. See the acknowledgement section for additional information.

How to use the manual

The workshop manual is created as web pages and you will only need your web browser to read it. Different sections and pages of the manual are connected using links. If you see a hand like this , it means the following text is a link to the next page of the manual. Follow the link to navigate to the next page or section.

The breadcrumb on the top will show you where you are at any time. If you need to go back to a previous section or a page just click on the underlined links in the breadcrumb.

In the text you will also find links to folders and files residing on the DVD or on your computer. Those links will look like this:

Simply click on the link to open up the referenced folder or file.
