Troubleshooting Issues with OccultWatcher



  There are a number of factors that contribute to making troubleshooting of issues happening on an uncontrolled environments challenging. Some of them are:

- Differences in the environment (version of Windows, currently installed updates, version of .NET Framework, currently installed updates, etc)
- Differences in the OccultWatcher installation (if you are using an older version or a beta version, some or more add-ins)
- Differences in the internet and network configuration (different Modems, means of connecting to internet, ISP, etc.)
- Firewalls and other security trimming software running on your environment
- Any other third party software running on your environment

Because of all this your environment is unique and in many cases it is very difficult to "guess" what may be going wrong with your installation of OccultWatcher. It is extreamly important to send very accurate and detailed information with your error report for your problem to be resolved. So make sure your error report to contain:

- Information about your environment such as version of Windows, do you have the latest updates installed or not etc.
- How experienced are you with both Windows and OccultWatcher
- Include plenty of screenshots showing the problem
- If you get any error message(s) then include the original error message(s) with your report. It is best if you can copy and paste them in your error report. If you cannot do this then write them down exactly (not just the parts you belive are important) or make a screen shot of the error message. If in order to get the complete error message you need to do more than one screenshot then please do so. Every last bit of the error message is important to correctly identify the cause of the issue you are experiencing and in most cases the error message is the only information available so please make sure you include the original, exact and complete error message.
- If something is not working, but you are not getting any error messages, then include a very detailed information of what is not working and most importantly why you believe it should be working and what you believe it should be doing (if relevant).
- If something is working, but you expect it to work in a different way, then include a very detailed information of how it is working and how and why you think it should be working in a different way (if relevant)
